Helping you navigate menopause

Meet the founder

Hi, I’m Fiona.

I’m an Australian journalist with a science background. I spent 20 years with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in TV news and current affairs before moving into medical publishing. I’ve written for The Lancet, Australian Doctor, and Medical Observer, as well as health education sites for medical practitioners and consumers.

Despite studying anatomy and physiology at university and having around 20 years in medical publishing, I had no idea what I would face when menopause hit.

In addition to the hot flashes, mood issues, anxiety, dry eyes, aching joints, and itchy skin prior to menopause, the vaginal symptoms that came post-menopause were horrendous. The dryness, itching, and burning made it hard to walk, sit, or sleep, and you can forget about sex!

I thought: "this is ridiculous: if I don’t know about these things, how does anyone know?'

So, back in 2019, I started to raise awareness about menopause and advocate for better health services and research.

Since then I've been talking to experts from around the world on all things menopause and sharing their wealth of knowledge so you can get the information you need to make informed decisions about your menopause and future health.

However, often, they don’t have all the answers, or the answers appear to be contradictory or inconclusive, and that’s because there hasn’t been enough research done.

Because of that, I recently set up a charity, the Menopause Research and Education Fund, which aims to:

  • provide education for healthcare professionals
  • provide education for all those who go through menopause
  • support research into menopause.
